I feel like obsessed, a messenger of my own ideas and inspiration. My hands and my belly are the interpreters. If the mission is accomplished, I return to everyday life again.
My greatest pleasure is telling a story to myself alone and especially the climax shortly before the piece is finished, and then seeing the eyes of the one who reads the story anew, wears the jewellery and creates something new."

"I make jewellery from the essence of my world.
No boundaries – don’t hold back!
Nothing but the essential point counts."

"At the workplace at the University, where the big machines and tools are, I do routine work, when I already know exactly what I’m going to do. When I’m invited to a workshop, I let myself be inspired by the new environment and the materials that I find there. When I come home again I put these things together."

Tabea's rings which can be viewed at Pieces of Eight's current exhibition, Baked Not Fried. Enamel on copper with garnets.

"Drawings appear in most of my works. They picture a moment and it lasts. How do I remember it? My pieces are telling stories in many ways. Your own experiences determine how you interpret it."
The following works were recently exhibited at Gallery Marzee, The Netherlands, the biggest contemporary jewellery gallery in the world, and one of the most prestigious.

"For my works I mainly use natural materials, rarely artificial ones like plastic for example. I create my own world with them. Certain materials happen to become synonyms of other words so that there is a story that you can only read if you know the necessary vocabulary.
When I’m watching myself, I realize that I don’t consist of only one material either. I’m soft and hard, warm and cold, wet and dry … My jewellery comes out of my inner self where there are many more differences.
Nothing there is only on the surface."
